For the first time, UOA Development Bhd claimed the top spot at this year’s The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards (TPDA). Additionally, it won the Best in Quantitative Attributes sub-award, taking the top spot.
The Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican attended the gala event on Tuesday, December 14, where the 19th TPDA anchors The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards (TEPEA) 2021 were delivered.
UOA Development’s general manager (project), Stephanie Kong, who moved up from No. 4 the previous year, claimed that the accomplishment would not have been possible without the assistance of the personnel and stakeholders.
“It is a great honour, and we weren’t prepared for it. Without the assistance and cooperation of all UOA staff members and stakeholders, receiving the prize would not have been possible. Each of us deserves this honour, said Kong.
S P Setia Bhd is ranked second, followed by Sunway Bhd’s property division and Gamuda Bhd’s property division at number three, IJM Land Bhd and Sime Darby Property Bhd at number four, Eco World Development Group Bhd at number five, IOI Properties Group Bhd at number six, UEM Sunrise Bhd at number seven, Mah Sing Group Bhd at number eight, Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd at number nine, Tropicana Corp (joint No 10).
S P Setia received the Best in Qualitative Attributes sub-award.
On both qualitative and quantitative criteria, the TPDA is assessed. In the qualitative category, judges assess each business based on its knowledge, reputation, originality, and creativity, as well as the quality of its products and the value it offers consumers.
Companies are rated according to their shareholders’ funds, turnover, profitability, and cash or gearing in the quantitative category. Deloitte Malaysia audits the TPDA’s scores and rankings.
The Edge Media Group CEO and publisher Datuk Ho Kay Tat said in his opening remarks that the awards not only serve to recognise the best in real estate development but also to help buyers who are looking to purchase properties.
The strongest will win out in difficult times, but how can we tell who is the strongest? We developed these awards specifically to respond to this inquiry and to inform the public about the strongest and brightest real estate players in the nation.
The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards have developed into an industry standard for businesses that have enduring financial stability and provide their clients with high-quality goods for use as a residence or as an investment, according to Ho.
Reeza added that the partnership between builders, his ministry, and homebuyers is mutually beneficial in creating a better and more livable Malaysia.
“TEPEA is a highly anticipated yearly event that honours the elite in the real estate sector. The ceremony hosted last year and this one tonight show that the Covid-19 pandemic has not prevented Malaysia from honouring its best.
Reezal remarked in his keynote address that “the extraordinary upheaval is a lesson for us to uphold sustainability, to always innovate, and to utilise technology to its maximum.”
