Since more restaurants have opened at The Sphere, you will never run out of places to eat in Bangsar South.
The lifestyle hub, which has 23 restaurants so far, serves not only local food but also a lot of food from other countries.
“It was always a place to eat, but we changed some things, including the way the building looked.
“The renovations were done at the beginning of last year,” said Yap Kang Beng, a senior manager at UOA Group.
The team of people in charge of renting then went out to look for tenants who liked different kinds of food.
“We wanted a variety of tastes, prices, and styles. It’s a place for everyone, whether it’s for a quick lunch with coworkers or a party,” he said, adding that more than 25,000 people work in Bangsar South.
The hub is 200,000 square feet and has a net lettable area of 120,000 square feet. What makes the area special, though, is how well it is connected.
“You can walk to The Sphere no matter where you park or where you work, because the whole area is connected,” said Yap.
The Sphere has four levels. The anchor tenant, Aeon MaxValu Prime Supermarket, takes up a big part of the lower ground level. Miniso, Juice Lab, and SOG Eyewear are also there.
Sector 3, Portofino, Buena Brasa, The Farm, Tom, Dick & Harry’s, The Public House, and Gossypium are all on the ground floor.
Home Noodle, Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock, Koffie Craft, Family Mart, Nyonya Tingkat Signature, Parklife, Barcook, Oiso, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Porki Culture, Sunbather Coffee, and Humba Nana by Bansan are all located on the upper ground.
On the first floor, Good Meal, Khan’s Indian Cuisine, and Tenmaya are next to the Chinese restaurant Oriental Treasure, which is also an anchor tenant.
“The restaurants are usually full at lunchtime, and we want to keep adding more options for diners,” he said.
Most restaurants are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., but some start as early as 7 a.m. to serve breakfast, and some nightclubs stay open until midnight.
At the 11th Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards, the Sphere was given the Landscape Design Honor Award in the Professional Category.
The Sphere has a semi-open design, and almost all of its restaurants offer both indoor and outdoor dining. The area is full of greenery, and there are water features in strategic places.
At the 11th Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards last month, The Sphere won the Landscape Design Honor Award in the Professional category (MLAA).
The Sphere, along with several other projects that help Malaysia’s landscaping ecosystem, was seen as an example of good landscape design and called an inspiration for future design trends.
The Sphere is easy to find, even for people who have never been to Bangsar South before, because it has a big sign on Jalan Kerinchi.
Visitors who take public transportation should look for the Bangsar South shuttle service at the Universiti LRT station.
“Visitors from Mid Valley can take the RapidKL bus T631 to the Universiti LRT station and then get on a Bangsar South shuttle bus,” he said, adding that the free service was only available from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays.
